Meditations for the Via Crucis - Tenth Station

Jesus nailed to the Cross

Ta' Pinu Via Crucis

Reading from the Gospel according to Mark (Mk 15: 22-26)

And they brought him to the place called Golgotha which means the place of a skull, and they offered him wine mingled with myrrh; but he did not take it. And they crucified him....and it was the third hour when they crucified him. And the inscription of the charge against him read: ‘The King of the Jews’.

Reflection

‘Crucify him!’ What an ugly word! What a cruel word!
Man crucifies the Son of God, his King!
A King who came not to be served but to serve.
A King who came to die for his people,
A King whose throne is the Cross!

Prayer

O Mother of him who created you,
Though you the new Adam has been conceived, the King of Humanity.
Bring us to stand beneath the Cross of your Son,
Towards this Tree of Life,
That we may taste the fruits of the Love of God.

Silence.....Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Blessed is the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus
O Lord have mercy on us and grant us forgiveness of our sins

We adore you O Christ and we bless you.
Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
