Meditations for the Via Crucis - Seventh Station

Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem

Ta' Pinu Via Crucis

Reading from the Gospel according to Luke (Lk 23: 26-31)

...And there followed him a great multitude of the people, and of women who bewailed and lamented him. But Jesus turned to them saying: ‘Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children..For if they do this when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?’.

Reflection

A few moments before, the crowd shouted: ‘Crucify him!’ Now a multitude was walking behind him, crying.....how can such a change happen, such a conversion? Conversion happened when we stop and look at Christ. It is in the Cross and in its sufferings that the Love of God towards man appears at its best. It is the love of God which gives new life to humankind!

Prayer

O daughter of Sion, help us to recognize the presence of your Son among us.
Teach us to look upon him, that we may taste the infinite love of the Father.

Silence.....Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be

Blessed is the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus
O Lord have mercy on us and grant us forgiveness of our sins

We adore you O Christ and we bless you.
Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
